Chorus
Chorus is open to those who love to sing. Besides singing and preparing for concerts, students are taught the basics of learning how to read music. Attendance to concerts is mandatory and is reflected in the overall students grade.
Music Appreciation
Although open to all students, this is an ideal course for freshman band students. Course content may include the following components: the appreciation process, musical styles and taste, music history, sound, musical instruments, listening techniques, elements of music, and roles of composers, performers, and listeners.
Band
High School Band is a performance oriented group. Rehearsals begin the last of July and continue through August. Band is listed as a co-curricular subject. Rehearsals are held during the school day and after school during the fall. Performances are held outside of the school day and include football games, marching band contests, parades, Christmas concert, large group contest, and a spring concert. Band is open to those with instrumental experience. Performances and rehearsals are mandatory and grades reflect attendance and performance standards.
