Message from the new Elementary (PS-2nd) Principal

Dear Mohawk Families and Community Members,

It is an honor and privilege to serve as Northwest Elementary (PS-2nd) Principal. I am following in the steps of a wonderful Principal, Mr. Scott Martin. I will never fill his shoes, but I do know I will always use his example of putting our students at the forefront of all my work. Mr. Martin exemplified his role, and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with him for so many years.

For me, I have always found the elementary is an exceptionally fun place to be, with the natural curiosity of children to learn. As you know, learning does not just happen in a school building. As a parent, family member or a teacher, we get so excited when our children learn something new. I know you will not forget the first time your child writes their name or says their ABCs. I want students to feel that pride and know we are all proud and cheering them on.

Family and community involvement will be a cornerstone to our success. A part of that success comes from regular school attendance. Being at school, every day is one of the most important predictors of achievement. I want to work with families to ensure students are here and learning in a rich and supportive environment.

An added bonus awaits your child this year. The building has undergone renovations, and it looks beautiful! I know the children will feel pride and school spirit when they walk in the doors as the building reflects the colors and symbols of a Mohawk.

Let's have a great year at Northwest Elementary!
Go Mohawks!
