Principal's Message

Mr. Burton is the principal for Northwest Middle School and has been in an administrative position for the NLSD  since the 2006-2007 school year.  Over Mr. Burton’s tenure, he has served in the classroom as an English and Spanish teacher at NHS and coached cross country, basketball, and track and field at both the middle and high school levels.  Mr. Burton has also worked in the central administrative office as the coordinator for transportation & buildings/grounds. 


Mr. Burton is a 1989 graduate of South Webster High School and attended the University of Rio Grande and also Ohio University to complete both his undergraduate and graduate degrees.  Upon graduation from Rio, Mr. Burton was a substitute teacher in Scioto County and started at Northwest as a long term substitute at NHS during the last week of February in 1995. 


Mr. Burton’s philosophy for education:  “Schools are built on a foundation of relationships, and the stronger the relationships between staff and students, the more successful the school will be.”
